Headaches (Cervicogenic in origin, which means coming from the neck), neck and shoulder tension can be caused by stress or by activities such as sitting at a VDU all day, they normally respond well to osteopathic treatment. Often the problem is not always in the neck or base of the head and a thorough examination will reveal this and as is so often the case other areas of the spine will be treated. Where head pain is concerned a range of treatment approaches will be used from soft tissue massage genetle mobilising and very gentle manipulation if it is necessary. Prior to treatment a thorough case history and examination will be performed to ensure that each patient is appropriate for treatment by the osteopath. Ask your osteopath if you are concerned about your symptoms at all, simple tests can easily be performed to check for more sinister problems and your osteopath will happily refer you to your GP if they feel its necessary and appropriate.
Daryl Herbert's instructional videos provide a visual and audible description of Osteopathic Minimal (short) Lever Mid Range Manipulation Techniques, for osteopaths, physiotherapists, manual therapists, mid to senior level students, graduates and post graduates. Techniques demonstrated look at the basic spinal regions, the spinal junctions, the sacro-iliac joints, ribs and the lower and upper extremity joints.
